Jacqui Safra

Safra's network position centers on John Brockman, the Edge Foundation literary agent who served as primary intermediary between Safra and Epstein. Brockman's June 16, 2010 email to Epstein—subject line "Jacqui Safra"—illustrates this brokerage role: reporting Safra's banking difficulties, soliciting Epstein's financial involvement, and pitching Safra's $25,000 commitment to the Edge platform re-engineering as a joint investment opportunity ⁷. Brockman also managed Safra's Edge dinner invitations and brokered the Jerusalem property discussions described below.

The relationship with Peggy Siegal, Epstein's publicist and social coordinator, places Safra within the broader Epstein social circuit. In July 2009, Siegal flew on Safra's private plane from Geneva to Portofino with Jean Doumanian, Safra's girlfriend and a Broadway producer known for her brief tenure running Saturday Night Live; they continued to London on Safra's aircraft ⁴. Siegal's February 14, 2010 email to Epstein described Safra as the "banker I introduced you to for drinks when we came thru London after Portifino mid-July" ⁵. Siegal also reported that Safra donated $10,000 worth of wine from his Napa Valley vineyard to an Independent Filmmakers Project gala at Diane von Furstenberg's studio, alongside a $25,000 food donation from Michael Saylor ⁸.

The Jerusalem property negotiations linked Safra, Epstein, and Ronald Lauder. In February 2013, Brockman emailed Epstein that "Jacque Safra is here with me. Wants to sell you his Jerusalem house in Talbieh neighborhood known as 'The Sherover House' across st from Jerusalem Theatre, and a few doors down from President's house. Two houses on acre and a half. He says he was in negotiations with Ronald Lauder but it didn't happen" ³. The failed Lauder negotiation is confirmed in multiple EFTA documents ⁹. The property, comprising two houses on 1.5 acres in Talbieh, remained under discussion through March 2014.

Safra's familial connection to Edmond Safra links the Epstein network to the Safra banking empire. Edmond founded Republic National Bank of New York in 1966 and built a conglomerate spanning 70 offshore entities that was acquired by HSBC for $10.3 billion in December 1999, weeks after Edmond's death. Analysis of EFTA documents identifies Jacqui as the indirect bridge between these networks through his sustained presence in the same social circles as Epstein associates through the 2010s ¹.

In June 2010, Brockman reported to Epstein that Safra "was in town scrambling because his loan at one of the big banks is not getting renewed" and asked "Something for you??" ⁶. The same email noted Safra "took us out to celebrate Max's 30th birthday" and committed $25,000 to the Edge website re-engineering project ⁶. Brockman's phrasing presented Safra's banking difficulty as a potential opening for Epstein.

The Edge platform investment shows Brockman soliciting Epstein to co-invest alongside Safra. The June 2010 email described Ronna Tanenbaum assembling a team to "re-engineer the EDGE website and create a new Internet platform," with Safra committed at $25,000 and Brockman querying Epstein: "Interested?" ⁷. Whether Epstein participated remains undocumented.

The Sherover House property in Talbieh—two houses on 1.5 acres near the President's residence—had previously been in negotiations with Ronald Lauder before that deal collapsed ³. Brockman's February 2013 email to Epstein presented the property and noted the failed Lauder negotiation. Follow-up emails in March 2014 indicate sustained interest, though the ultimate outcome is not documented ³.

Safra's documented spending within the Epstein orbit included the $10,000 wine donation to Siegal's IFP gala ⁸ and the $25,000 Edge platform commitment ⁷. Both expenditures positioned Safra alongside Epstein-connected figures and maintained his access to Brockman's brokerage network and the Edge Foundation social circuit.

Safra's documented attendance at Edge Foundation events from 2012 to 2014 places him at the intersection of Epstein's network and the tech-science elite that Brockman cultivated. The February 28, 2012 confidential dinner in Long Beach, California—attended by Safra, Epstein, Bezos, Brin, Gates, Page, and Jean Pigozzi—is one of the larger documented gatherings of tech billionaires alongside Epstein ². Brockman's email to Epstein noted "20 chairs and 21 guests in a small room" and instructed Epstein to "Please show up alone" ².

Safra appeared on guest lists for at least five Edge events, placing him alongside figures such as Gates, Bezos, and Brin on a recurring basis ². For Epstein, Safra's attendance added a banking-dynasty connection and potential access to Safra family networks. For Safra, the dinners provided proximity to technology investors and scientific figures in an intimate setting curated by Brockman.

Safra's private plane—documented carrying Siegal and Doumanian from Geneva to Portofino to London in July 2009—provided logistical support for Epstein-adjacent social activity. Siegal's email to Epstein thanking him "for my Birthday airline ticket" while describing the Safra flight shows how private aviation facilitated overlapping travel arrangements among network members ⁴. Siegal's subsequent introduction of Safra to Epstein for drinks in London connected these social circuits directly ⁵.
